Laboratory Director

Michael_Reed_PhDDr. Reed is Board Certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB), the only certifying body in the U.S. for clinical laboratory sciences that is recognized by the Federal CMS CLIA program; the ABB certifications are for embryology, andrology, and high-complexity laboratory testing. He has directed IVF and clinical andrology laboratories since 1992, and brings over 35 years of practical and research experience in mammalian reproductive physiology to the patients at The Fertility Center of New Mexico, with consistent and proven procedures for embryology, andrology, and cryopreservation of sperm, eggs, and embryos.

Goals

Dr. Reed continues to challenge traditional approaches to assisted reproductive laboratory techniques, providing leadership and promoting pathways to excellence by cooperation with, and encouragement of others. Ongoing projects include improvement and innovation of embryo culture techniques, cryopreservation methods, and evaluation of approaches for the handling and maintenance of sperm, eggs, and embryos in the laboratory.

Research

Research is vital to the field of clinical assisted reproduction, and as such, Reed has published extensively, maintaining a progressive research program at The Fertility Center of New Mexico. Dr. Reed participates in several national organizations, and is an active reviewer for several major journal publications.

Awards
